Social Media Manager and Web Communications Manager

Full time

Reports to Director of Sales and Marketing

 

Job Responsibilities:

60% of time should be spent:

  • Daily contact, response, posting, monitoring, and changing on all social media outlets that the resort is currently using, (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube etc.) and initiating new outlets that may benefit the resort.
  • Handle the resort's blog.  Daily/weekly monitoring, response and posting on resort's blog, including days that individual may not be scheduled for work hours.  Research, find, and bookmark other blogs that may be beneficial for the resort, and post on them to promote the resort. (Google Alerts, Twitter Search)
  • Daily monitoring and response on major third party travel review sites (Trip Advisor)
  • Updating packages and specials on the third party referral websites, usually bi monthly or quarterly. (Jekyll Island, State of Georgia, Golden Isles, Wedding Wire, Expedia)
  • Working with the Director of Sales and Marketing on the items to post each day, week, month, as well as any PR opportunities that arise for all social media outlets.  Providing monthly reports on social media placements. Analyzing reports from third parties regarding internet marketing.
  • Find places/sites where the resort's restaurants are listed and/or reviewed and respond as needed (Open Table). Research sites that the resort restaurants can have free listings.
  • Update the resort's website content using WordPress, as needed, including editing, re-sizing photos, changing home page promos and creating new pages.  Knowing coding is extremely helpful.
  • Become proficient with NAVIS, our reservations/marketing program that the resort uses to track revenue coming in by specific marketing initiative.  Be able to analyze stats and create reports.
  • Assembling and providing all content and images for monthly e-newsletters.
  • Assisting the sales assistant with the e-mail databases as needed if any.
  • Building HTML templates for targeted remarketing emails two times per month, making suggestions and recognizing ways to maximize our business potential from email marketing.

 

40% of time should be spent:

  • Entertaining and touring qualified travel writers, bloggers and members of the press- keeping files on each for follow up.
  • Attends media show as necessary, acting as a representative of the resort to establish contacts, collect leads, and obtain exposure for the resort, then following up on leads obtained.
  • Creating, updating and issuing press releases.  Sending releases to media, updating press kits regularly.
  • Creating, and writing articles for the web newsletter, local Club News newsletter and Beachscape-changing copy each month.
  • Maintain memberships in industry groups, associations, etc. as an ambassador of the resort.

 

Performance Standards:

  • Arrives ready and rested for work, at previously agreed upon time, in professional attire.
  • Organizes time well and keeps desk and work area clean and presentable.
  • Keeps good, detailed files of all work and clients.
  • Is able to maintain good rapport and working relationships with all employees and department heads.
